Ringing endorsement for boss

Philip Hobbs is convinced inexperience over fences will not be detrimental to the chance of Ring The Boss in the Arkle on Tuesday week.

Philip Hobbs is convinced inexperience over fences will not be detrimental to the chance of Ring The Boss in the Arkle on Tuesday week.

The seven-year-old is prominent in the markets for the Irish Independent-sponsored heat at Cheltenham after finishing second on his fencing debut in the Kingmaker.

“His run at Warwick when he was second was very, very pleasing,” Hobbs told At The Races.

“We took the view that if he won something like the Arkle we’d be delighted but if he didn’t win a novice chase this season, he’ll still be novice next season.

“Well Chief won the Arkle on his second chase start to it’s possible.

“He (Ring The Boss) is a good, strong horse who jumps well.”

Ring The Boss has been the subject of ante-post support for the Arkle in recent days and is now as low as 11-1.
