Ludlow’s National Hunt fixture on Wednesday is in doubt due to frost.

Conditions at the course are currently bleak but officials will stage an inspection at 8.00am on Tuesday as they hope for some improvement.

Clerk of the course Bob Davies said: “We’ll look early so hopefully we won’t have to mess people about more than we have to.

“We are not raceable today and we were still rock-hard at 11.30am.

“Currently the forecast is for a frost tonight, varying between minus four and minus eight degrees, and then it could even be foggy tomorrow.

“It could get as high as plus eight in the day but the killer factor will be what happens on Tuesday night – if there is another frost forecast I’d have to say chances are remote.”
