Vodafone announce Epsom Derby deal
Vodafone will sponsor the Derby at Epsom for one final year.
In January 2007, the company announced that after 13 years it would not be renewing its sponsorship, but with no other offer forthcoming it will return to support the June feature.
As part of the agreement, Vodafone will also back the Princess Elizabeth Stakes, which will move to the Saturday, while the remaining races over the two-day meeting will be split between other sponsors.
Nick Blofeld, Epsom’s managing director, said: “We are thrilled that Vodafone has decided to sponsor the 2008 Derby and the Princess Elizabeth Stakes.
“I would like to thank Vodafone for their support at this time.”
Simon Lewis, group corporate affairs director at Vodafone, added: “We are pleased to be sponsoring the Derby, for one final year, given our long association with this historic race.”
