Katchit claims Kingwell crown
Katchit boosted his claims for the Champion Hurdle with a solid victory in the Bathwick Tyres Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton.
Last year’s Triumph Hurdle winner led three out and responded to Robert Thornton’s urgings as Blythe Knight tried to challenge in the straight.
Katchit (4-5), trained by Alan King, kept on strongly to win by five lengths with Alph a further 17 lengths away in third.
The disappointment of the race was Amaretto Rose, who was pulled up by Mick Fitzgerald before the third last.
