Murphy considers King options
Ferdy Murphy is keen to get Kalahari King back in action as the youngster continues to please at home.
Despite finishing only fourth when sent off favourite in a race won by Rippling Ring at the start of the month, Murphy is pleased with the seven-year-old, who could head to Sandown on Friday.
âHeâll be in at a few places and weâre just looking for some good ground for him,â said the trainer.
âHe was in tomorrow at Kelso but it would have been a bit too gluey there for him and I donât want to pull him about on that. He could go to Sandown if it dries out, or to Sedgefield next week.
âHe seems really well at the moment and worked very well on Tuesday morning, so weâre very happy with him at the moment.
âIt looked a good novice race last time and he was a little sore afterwards but we have a spa at home and heâs been in that which has helped him. Itâs just a matter of finding him some good ground and with the way the weather is at the moment we should have plenty of options.â
Kalahari King holds an entry in the Anglo Irish Bank Supreme Novicesâ Hurdle at Cheltenham, for which he can be backed at 25-1 with a host of firms.
