Other layers were more impressed with totesport going 20-1, Coral 16s and William Hill 14s after Jessica Harrington’s youngster bravely landed the Grade Two event.

Despite Won In The Dark cruising into the front rank rounding the turn, Barry Geraghty had him in his sights on the 12-1 chance and got the better of a nip-and-tuck finish by a short head.

Harrington said: “He came on for his first run for us over Christmas, and he showed that last time at Punchestown.

“He lost a bit of ground coming out of the back today when he got squeezed, but that should be the making of him as hustle and bustle can only improve him.

“He is tough and will have to go for the Triumph after that.”
