The colours of the legendary Vincent O’Brien were carried to victory in the Group Three Al Rashidiya, the feature at the third meeting of the 2008 Dubai International Racing Carnival at Nad Al Sheba.

Trained by his son Charles, Lord Admiral has been a Carnival regular for three seasons but was winning for the first time in Dubai when taking the nine-furlong event from Gharir.

Registering only his fifth career win, the seven-year-old enjoyed a good summer in Ireland and his trainer believes he is improving.

He said: “He seems to be getting better with age and his attitude is definitely better. Mick (Kinane) was quite confident he would run well but I was worried how fit he was.

“We will look for one more race and hope for a Dubai Duty Free invite.”
