Doncaster monitor weather

Doncaster officials are keeping their fingers crossed the cold snap does not hit Town Moor ahead of Saturday’s valuable card.

Conditions are perfectly raceable at the moment but clerk of the course David Williams is expecting an icy blast.

“We’ve taken the good to firm out of the going description following 8mm of rain today,” said Williams.

“The forecast for tomorrow is snow and sleet showers and a further 3mm. It is really tomorrow night where we have the problem. We are looking at minus four to minus five.

“It all depends on the cloud cover and if it does become clear it is obviously going to freeze.

“I’ve looked at four different forecasts and while they are similar they are different in many ways.

“It all hinges on Friday night. In light of the forecast and if that doesn’t change, almost certainly I will be calling an inspection.

“We’ll be covering the takeoffs and landings to give it every chance.”
