Wetherby chases abandoned
Wetherby have abandoned the three scheduled races over fences on Saturday and will instead stage an all-hurdle, six-race card.
Course officials inspected the chase track on Wednesday when conditions had improved.
But having brought forward today’s scheduled 3pm inspection, clerk of the course James Sanderson’s worst fears were confirmed after heavy overnight rain.
Sanderson said: “We are back to square-one on the chase course, unfortunately, so we will go with an all-hurdle card and at least everybody knows in plenty of time.
“The going on the hurdle course is soft and we have our fingers crossed we don’t get too much snow and ice.”
