This afternoon’s meeting at Gowran Park will go ahead as planned after the venue passed an early inspection.

Officials at the track had been due to hold an official look at 8am, but with conditions safe for racing, they were able to make a positive decision slightly earlier.

Confirming the news, Irish Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: “Thankfully the meeting will go ahead as planned.

“They’ve had a look at the track and although conditions are still heavy, they were quite happy with things so the meeting is on.”

The eight-race fixture sees the return of Kicking King in the Normans Grove Chase before a competitive field go to post for the ultra-valuable Ellen Construction Thyestes Handicap Chase.
