Haydock abandoned
Officials at Haydock have been forced to abandon this afternoon’s meeting, which includes the prestigious Peter Marsh Chase, due to waterlogging.
Conditions had improved throughout Friday but more rain fell overnight than was forecast leaving the course waterlogged.
“Unfortunately we have had to abandon as significantly more rain fell overnight than we were expecting,” said clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright.
“We had been expecting a dry night but well over 10mm’s fell and it was more than we could handle.
“The BHA are looking in to a contingency plan to see if they can save any of the races but nothing has been confirmed as yet.”
