Plumpton still in the balance
Monday’s National Hunt fixture at Plumpton is subject to the course passing a precautionary inspection at 7.30am ahead of racing.
Clerk of the course Mark Cornford held an initial check at 3pm on Sunday after the course was hit with a deluge of recent rain.
While the track has seen some improvement, Cornford is mindful that further precipitation would put racing under severe threat.
He said: “We haven’t had any more rain today but we’re in a position where we cannot really take any more significant rain.
“The ground has improved marginally and we’re hoping for more improvement overnight.
“We have looked at several forecasts and some say it will be dry but others are giving showers, possibly heavy. We would be very worried if they materialise.”
