Wetherby meeting in the balance

Tomorrow’s fixture at Wetherby is subject to the course passing a precautionary inspection at 8.00am.

The North Yorkshire track has been hit with a considerable volume of rain over the last few days and clerk of the course James Sanderson is praying for some respite.

Earlier in the week officials abandoned three chases originally scheduled for the meeting but the hurdles track is now giving cause for concern as well.

Sanderson said: “We’re heavy here at the moment and we really need a dry night.

“There’s a bit of rain about now and if we do get any significant precipitation overnight I suspect that might put an end to our hopes.”
