Afsoun team have Haydock option
Afsoun could be given a chance to redeem himself in the bonusprint.com Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock later this month.
Trainer Nicky Henderson is mulling a run in the January 19 event after the six-year-old’s disappointing show when only fourth at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day.
“I still can’t quite put my finger on it, but he came back from his last race fine,” said Henderson.
“I’m just thinking about whether to run him in the Champion Hurdle trial at Haydock.”
Afsoun won the two-mile contest at the Merseyside venue last season before going on to finish third in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham.
The Kahyasi gelding is currently as low as 20-1 with Coral for the Festival feature despite failing to get his head in front in three starts this term.
