Kurten wins World Cup qualifier

Ireland’s Jessica Kurten and Castle Forbes Libertina raced away with the Rolex FEI World Cup qualifier and £20,000 first prize at Olympia’s London International Horse Show at the end of a seven horse jump-off for the biggest reward of the week.

Kurten, a Germany resident who is the 38-year-old daughter of a dentist from Co Antrim, gained her 0.23-second advantage from sixth place in the decider by a huge burst of speed after the turn from the third last obstacle.

Michael Whitaker led the way in the jump-off with Suncal Portofino, but two mistakes ruled them out.
