Uttoxeter given the go-ahead

This afternoon’s fixture at Uttoxeter will be staged as planned after officials gave the meeting an early go-ahead.

Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen had scheduled a precautionary inspection for 8.30am, but was able to make an earlier decision as temperatures did not plummet as low as had been feared overnight.

He said: “It’s good news. We brought the inspection forward and racing goes ahead.

“We’ve been zero degrees for most of the night. It dipped just below at 5.00am, but it’s just popped back up again. We’re back up now and the track is unaffected because it was covered, so we’re racing.”
