The four-year-old tackles his stiffest test to date, but has won all his three completed outings over jumps, including over this two miles on his latest start.

“He’s well in himself and we’ve been aiming at this for a while,” she said.

“I think he’s got a chance. He won fairly nicely there last time with a similar sort of weight, so I’d be confident he’d run a good race.

“A trainer like myself doesn’t get many chances to go for a race like this. It will be a good one for us and hopefully we will get good ground, which is the main thing.

“We missed out at Sandown with him a couple of weeks ago because the ground just went right against him. We held him back for Ascot and hopefully it will be OK.”

Colin Bolger has struck up a fine partnership with Alsadaa, who fell on his only other run over hurdles, and the 3lb claimer keeps the ride.

“He knows the horse now and I think we’re better off sticking with him. There’s the 3lb too, it all helps,” Mongan added.

Alsadaa is a best-priced 25-1 to lift the valuable prize.
