Wayne Hutchinson was taken to hospital for precautionary X-rays on his knee following a fall at Exeter.

Hutchinson, who is due to partner Paul Nicholls’ Natal in the Peterborough Chase on Saturday, sustained the injury when unseated from Desert Secrets at the fourth fence in the South-West Racing Club Handicap Chase.

The horse’s trainer, Jonathan Portman, said: “I gather he’s gone off for X-rays on his knee.

“He just dragged a bit then he probably got a bit galloped on as well and he was in a bit of pain.

“Thankfully it doesn’t sound too serious. He’s just having it checked out to see how long he will he off for.”

Hutchinson’s agent, Chris Broad, added: “He’s gone to Exeter Hospital for precautionary X-rays.

“I’ve spoken to him and he seemed fine, chatting away.”
