Nickname team wait for rain

Prolific chaser Nickname will not make his intended starting point for the season unless he can get his favoured soft ground.

Martin Brassil’s eight-year-old won six of his seven starts last term, all at levels between Grade Three and One.

County Kildare-trained Brassil said: “At the moment we are not sure of plans, and unless it rains he is likely to miss the race he started off in last year, the Fortria Chase at Navan (on November 11).

“He’s in good form, but we might have to wait until December.”
