Drunken takes charge for orderly win
Drunken Disorderly gave a brave front-running performance to win the Hartmann Jewellers Ballybrit Novice Chase at Galway.
Charlie Swan’s charge took the field along in the early stages and had enough in the tank to repel all-comers in the straight.
Escrea looked a big danger two out but Drunken Disorderly shrugged her aside, only for Abbeybraney to put in his bid on the run to the line.
However, the 5-2 favourite pulled out more for David Casey to score by half a length. Escrea was third.
Drunken Disorderly was following up his debut win over fences at Listowel last month after a 17-month lay-off.
Swan said: “The horse landed a bit flat after the last and David Casey said the horse wasn’t doing a stroke in front.
“Overall he jumped quite well and the plan is to give him one more run before Christmas. We are thinking about the Drinmore Chase at Fairyhouse and then we’ll probably go to Leopardstown at Christmas for the Durkan New Homes Chase.”
