Martin issues Spinner warning
Tony Martin is hoping the ground dries out at Newmarket in time for Leg Spinner’s bid for the £2.5m totescoop6 Cesarewitch tomorrow.
The County Meath handler has warned he would withdraw his fancied runner from the two-and-a-quarter mile handicap if he felt the ground was too soft.
“He seems in good form. I just hope the ground dries out,” said Martin.
“If the ground dries out we’d be hoping for a good run. He wouldn’t run if it was heavy, or soft to heavy. It wants to be good or good to soft.
“The horse has been over there since Thursday and Johnny Murtagh knows him well.”
Leg Spinner has made two successful raids on Britain, winning the Ascot Stakes at Royal Ascot at York in 2005 and a handicap at Ascot in August.
