Monkey fails to deliver
The Green Monkey again failed to sparkle when he made his second racecourse appearance in a seven-furlong maiden event at Belmont Park.
Coolmore’s 16million purchase proved something of a disappointment when only third on his debut in a similar contest in September, having been kept off the track with physical problems last year.
And a similar outcome awaited the evens favourite on Saturday, as he could only finish a well-beaten fourth of seven behind 11-1 winner Giant Deputy.
The Green Monkey, partnered by John Velazquez, led the field through the first four furlongs or so but had nothing left to give when passed in the home straight.
