Khaldun handed Autumn assignment

Ibn Khaldun takes the leap from nurseries to Pattern company in the Deloitte Autumn Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

The impeccably-bred two-year-old colt gets his chance in this Group Three over a mile after a smooth victory over seven furlongs at the Berkshire track two weeks ago.

Godolphin’s trainer Saeed bin Suroor is hopeful Ibn Khaldun can make an impact in this higher grade.

He said: “Ibn Khaldun has done well since his last race, and is working well.

“This is a big step up for him, running in a Group Three, but we are looking forward to a good run from him.

“The distance of a mile will be no problem,” Bin Suroor told www.godolphin.com.

Paveroc has the chance to book his ticket to Dubai with a big run.

“His form is solid and he should run a nice race,” said trainer Stan Moore.

“I think a mile at Ascot will suit him and he deserves to take his chance.

“He came out of his race at Newmarket in good form and if he runs well in that race we might take him to Dubai for the Spring Carnival.

“It’s a fact-finding mission in that respect as he needs to put up a good performance to warrant taking him.”
