Manduro progressing well

Manduro is making good progress at Andre Fabre’s stable after successful surgery on the off-hind cannonbone fracture he sustained when winning the Prix Foy last month.

“He’s very well. He’s back at home in his own environment in his old box,” said Paul Harley, racing manager to Baron Georg von Ullman in whose colours the five-year-old ran.

“He has been a great patient and the vets are very pleased with him.”

Manduro was bought as a prospective stallion by Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley operation.

The multiple Group One winner was retired after sustaining a career-ending injury in what should have been his prep race for Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

“Obviously, he’s in the hands of Darley now, but I’m sure he will be shipped out to either Ireland or England to take up stud duties in due time,” Harley added.

“They have to set a time for him to recuperate first before he is fit to travel.”
