Sir Gerry tops ten for Middle Park Stakes
Sir Gerry features among 10 colts declared for Friday’s Shadwell Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket.
After disappointing when sent off the odds-on favourite on his second start in July, James Fanshawe’s charge repaired his reputation with a smooth success in the Gimcrack at York.
He proved too smart for Aidan O’Brien’s Great Barrier Reef on that occasion but the Ballydoyle maestro is keen to have another crack at Sir Gerry, this time with Achilles Of Troy.
Barry Hills will be represented by the money-spinning Dark Angel and Tajdeef, while Andrew Balding runs Dream Eater.
The latter gained his first success to date in a £300,000 Sales race at Doncaster last month, outpointing Achilles Of Troy by a length and a quarter.
Group Two winner Strike The Deal will represent Jeremy Noseda, while the supplemented Rock Of Rochelle is aiming for a hat-trick after two recent wins at the Curragh.
Red Alert Day, All In The Red and Proud Linus complete the line-up.
