Request wins Weld Park Stakes at the Curragh
Mick Channon initiated another Irish heist when West Ilsley raider Eva's Request won the Group Three CL Weld Park Stakes.
Given an outstanding ride by Mick Kinane, the 14-1 shot was content to stalk a clutch of early contenders, including the pacesetting Indiana Gal and 2-1 favourite, Lady Jane Digby.
Despite making discernible progress, Kinane still had plenty to do inside the last as Kyniska galloped into a commanding advantage.
But Eva’s Request refused to buckle under intense pressure and zipped past Tracey Collins’ filly with 100 yards remaining, seizing the day by a length.
Keith Evans, Channon’s travelling head lad, said: “She goes on any ground and is a nice-moving filly.
“She stays well and we’ve always thought she was nice at home.
Eva’s Request’s owner, Liam Mulryan, added: “The smaller field gave her a better chance to get the run of the race
“We’ll give her a rest for the remainder of the season but we think she’s a Guineas filly.”
