Monet's back in business

Monet’s Garden had a spin at Haydock racecourse in preparation for his first run of the campaign, possibly at Aintree next month.

Trainer Nicky Richards is considering the Bonusprint.com Old Roan Chase over two and a half miles on October 28 for the nine-year-old grey.

He was last seen in action on Merseyside in April when he lowered the colours of Taranis and Well Chief in the Melling Chase.

Monet’s Garden was ridden by his regular race partner Tony Dobbin in a two-and-a-half mile exercise with several stable companions.

“Everything went super. The horses just lobbed along for two and a half miles in a little workout,” said Richards.

“There’s the Old Roan Chase at Aintree at the end of next month.

“We’ll see how he is in the next 10 days or so and take it from there.”
