Gerry in line for Middle Park bid
James Fanshawe’s exciting juvenile Sir Gerry remains firmly on course for a shot at the Shadwell Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on October 5.
Having suffered an odds-on reverse on his second start, the Carson City colt bounced back in no uncertain terms when taking the Gimcrack Stakes at York last month.
He has delighted Fanshawe at home since and is now poised to take a step up in grade in the six-furlong Group One contest on the Rowley Mile.
The trainer said: “Sir Gerry won his Group Two and he seems to have been in good form since the race.
“He worked last weekend and seemed well. He goes for the Middle Park.”
Another Fanshawe inmate with a possible crack at a top-flight contest on the agenda is Doncaster maiden winner Falcolnry.
The daughter of Hawk Wing holds an entry in the Cheveley Park Stakes, but no final decision has been taken on whether she will line up in that contest.
Fanshawe told www.newmarketracecourses.co.uk: “She has other options – there is the Oh So Sharp Stakes on the next day and also the fillies’ nursery.
“She’ll run in one of the three races, but which one I’m not sure at this stage.”
