Gibbons fails breath test

Jockey Graham Gibbons was prevented from taking up his rides at Hamilton on Sunday having failed a breath test for alcohol.

Jockey Graham Gibbons was prevented from taking up his rides at Hamilton on Sunday having failed a breath test for alcohol.

The sampling officer Judith Reay reported he had provided a sample which was found to contain alcohol in a concentration above the threshold level.

The stewards heard from Gibbons, clerk of the scales Charles Stebbing and Reay.

They found Gibbons to be in breach and suspended the jockey from riding for the day. They also referred the matter to the British Horseracing Authority.
