Murtagh bags Vermeille

Johnny Murtagh got first run on his rivals to win the Prix Vermeille on Mrs Lindsay at Longchamp.

Taking over from the pacemaking Takaniya early in the straight, the Francois Rohaut-trained filly kept on strongly to land the spoils.

French Oaks winner West Wind stayed on from the rear to take second place, with Henry Cecil’s Passage Of Time third.
