Mudawin handed Longchamp test
Mudawin will bid to book his ticket to the Emirates Melbourne Cup at Longchamp on Sunday.
Trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam is looking for a good performance from the six-year-old in the one-mile-seven-furlong Prix Gladiateur after a disappointing run in the Ebor.
However, the Newmarket handler felt there were excuses for that run and reports the gelding to be back to his best.
“Mudawin will run at Longchamp on Sunday and if he was to run well, we would look at the Melbourne Cup for him,” said Chapple-Hyam.
“He’s in good order now. He didn’t have the best preparation for York as he had colic and he was really a couple of pieces of work short in the Ebor.
“It’s a small field on Sunday so it’s probably going to be a tactical race, but John (Egan) knows the horse well and will know when to go on.
“We will see how he goes at Longchamp but if Melbourne isn’t an option, he is still in the Cesarewitch.”
