Jamie Spencer is reported to be “fighting fit” to partner Red Evie in the Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.

He gave up his last two rides at Newbury on Friday afternoon and four mounts at Kempton’s evening fixture after suffering from a back complaint.

“He’s absolutely fine. He was just a little bit sore and yesterday would have been a long day – today’s a Group One,” his wife Emma said on on Channel 4’s The Morning Line.

“He’ll be fighting fit and ready to team up with Red Evie, who has been such a fine servant to Michael Bell and to him.”

Spencer will, however, have to pass the racecourse doctor before he can return to action at Leopardstown where he has four booked rides.
