Pitt to resume training

Tim Pitt is to restart his training career at Norton Grange Stables near Malton in North Yorkshire.

The dual Group One-winning handler plans to rent 15 boxes from Tim Fitzgerald.

Pitt has been looking for suitable premises since leaving Martin Grange Stables at Bawtry in early July, having previously been employed by owner and football agent Willie Mackay.

“I had looked at various yards across the country but knew straight away that Norton Grange was where I wanted to be when I saw the place,” said Pitt.

“It has great facilities, excellent gallops and Tim Fitzgerald has been hugely helpful to me.

“I’m very much looking forward to resuming my training career and – although I will be starting with a relatively small string – I have hopefully proved I can do it once and am more than determined to succeed a second time.”

Pitt, 33, enjoyed a sensational first season as a trainer last year when he nurtured Les Arcs from a 90-rated handicapper to win the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Darley July Cup at Newmarket.

Admiral’s victory in the Chester Cup provided another bright spot in 2006, while Pitt also boasted a 33% strike rate with his two-year-olds.

He will be attending the major sales this autumn, with the Sangster Family among those who have pledged to support him in the future.
