Dettori gives up York rides
Frankie Dettori has given up his three rides at York this afternoon and will be out of action until the weekend in an attempt to shake off the flu.
Despite being under the weather for two weeks, Dettori partnered Derby winner Authorized to a scintillating success in the Juddmonte International at York yesterday.
However, he is not feeling well enough to fulfil any further short-term commitments, including his ride on Scriptwriter in the totesport Ebor this afternoon.
āHeās been suffering from the flu for the last week and a half and he went to see his doctor this morning,ā said Dettoriās agent Ray Cochrane.
āHis doctor has advised him to just have a couple of days off and to take it easy. Hopefully he should be back at the weekend.ā
Kerrin McEvoy will now partner Scriptwriter in the Ebor and Iguazu Falls in the newitts.com Convivial Maiden Stakes, while Dettoriās ride on Pat Haslamās Bespoke Boy in the Julia Graves Roses Stakes this afternoon has gone to Jimmy Fortune.
