Tralee Festival has been given a major boost after this afternoon’s meeting passed an early-morning inspection.

Recent wet conditions put the start of the five-day marathon in jeopardy.

However, Irish Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone reported: “The course was found to be raceable following a dry night.

“The forecast is also favourable for the next few days, with no further rain for the foreseeable future.

“There will, though, be no starting stalls in operation this afternoon - officials will monitor that situation as the week progresses.”
