Tariq set for Group One chance

Tariq could be given the chance to prove himself at the highest level after progressing from Listed to Group Two success.

The Prix de la Foret at Longchamp in October and next month’s Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock are among the races being considered for the Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained colt.

After disappointing in his first two starts, Tariq has come good with wins at Newmarket, the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group Two Betfair Cup at Goodwood.

“I think he could be a Group One horse,” said Tony Nerses, racing manager for owners Saleh Al Homeizi and Imad Al Sagar.

“There’s the Foret over seven furlongs or maybe the Haydock Sprint if the ground is on the soft side as it would make it more of a stamina test.”
