Godolphin targets Sovereign hat-trick

Olympian Odyssey will attempt to give Godolphin their third successive victory in the totesport.com Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury on Thursday.

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor won the Group Three prize with Layman in 2005 and Belenus 12 months later and this times goes for glory with the former Barry Hills-trained inmate.

The four-year-old, who finished third behind George Washington in the 2000 Guineas last year, ran twice in Dubai during the winter but has not been seen since.

“Olympian Odyssey has needed time this year, but he’s coming along nicely now - working well – and this looks a good race for him,” Bin Suroor told www.godolphin.com.

“He seems in good form and we are looking for a big run from him. It looks a tough race but we hope he can win.”

Olympian Odyssey will face 11 rivals, including Royal Hunt Cup winner Royal Oath, who will only run if the ground is suitable.
