Gowran off after deluge

This evening’s meeting at Gowran has been cancelled due to a waterlogged track.

The County Kilkenny venue was overwhelmed by 26 millimetres of overnight rain, which left the course unraceable.

Irish Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: “Paddy Graffin, the clerk of the course, was called out early this morning and found the course to be completely submerged – there was nothing that could be done.

“They have cancelled the meeting in the hope of getting it back at some stage.”
