Hill has middle option
Pencil Hill, fourth behind Henrythenavigator in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, is a possible for the Shadwell Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on October 5.
The Tracey Collins-trained juvenile looked a horse to follow after winning his first two starts, with current 1000 Guineas ante-post favourite You’resothrilling finishing in arrears on one occasion.
Collins is keen not to rush Pencil Hill back to action but is looking forward to seeing him on track again.
“Pencil Hill is well. We gave him a break after Ascot as he’s only a May 3 foal but he’s done very well and we are aiming him at an end-of-season campaign,” said Collins.
“We have quite a few options with him. We can go back to five furlongs or stay at six and he has got physically quite a lot stronger on his break. He should be better for it.
“He holds an entry in the Middle Park and, luckily enough with a horse like him, I can consider those sorts of options,” she told At The Races.
