Creighton facing lengthy absence

Edward Creighton is recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery on his broken left leg following a nasty fall at Brighton on Thursday.

The jockey broke his tibia and fibula when his mount Ma Ridge crashed through the rails about two furlongs out in the totesportcasino.com Maiden Handicap.

Creighton was taken to Sussex County Hospital where he was operated on.

“He lost a lot of blood so he’s very weak but they seem to think the operation has gone well,” said his agent Alicia Murray.

“They manipulated his leg last night so they could operate this morning.

“He will remain in hospital for a couple of days, maybe until Tuesday.

“They seem to think it’s pretty straightforward and hopefully he could be back riding in about eight weeks. Thank God they were plastic rails.”
