Cecil happy with stable stars

Henry Cecil’s star fillies Light Shift and Passage Of Time both pleased the master of Warren Place as they stretched their legs in some exercise this morning.

The first-named Niarchos family-owned charge has reportedly bounced out of her defeat in the Irish Oaks in fine fettle, while the latter is showing the right signs after a quiet spell.

Not seen since finishing well behind her stablemate in the Epsom Oaks, a trip to York’s Ebor meeting remains on the cards for Passage Of Time after she pleased in her first piece of work for some time.

Cecil said: “Passage Of Time is on her way back and did her first piece of work for a while this morning. I’m looking to take her to York for either the Juddmonte (International) or the Yorkshire Oaks.

“She had medication after the Oaks and that took a lot out of her – in fact it virtually reduced her to nothing.

“But she’s picked up again quickly and I’m hoping she’ll run well for the last third of the season.”

And of Light Shift, who could next be seen in the Blue Square Nassau Stakes at Goodwood next week, Cecil added: “She worked this morning and I was very pleased with her.

“Despite the heavy ground in Ireland she came back very well and has picked up nicely since then.”
