Raven gives Gosden plenty to crow about
Raven’s Pass maintained his unbeaten record with an impressive success in the opening Kleenex Winkfield Stakes at Ascot.
John Gosden’s juvenile was soon ushered into an early lead by Jimmy Fortune and set just a fair pace at the head of affairs until quickening the tempo at around the two-furlong point.
The 9-2 chance quickly shot clear of the chasing pack and ran out a cosy five-length winner over Henry Cecil’s staying-on Unnefer (11-2).
Mister Hardy had been prominent throughout and kept up his challenge to secure third place, a further length and a quarter behind the first two.
Raven’s Pass earned himself a 16-1 quote with Ladbrokes for next season’s 2000 Guineas after the win, although ante-post punters can take 33s with VC Bet.
