Irish trainer Eoin Griffin is preparing to send his lightly-raced colt Finicius to the Betfair Cup at Goodwood next week.

It would be the second run of the season - and just the fourth in total - for the well-regarded three-year-old, who struggled with the heavy ground in the Celebration Stakes at the Curragh last time out.

"More than likely he will go to Goodwood if the ground is good enough. He won't go on anything softer than good," said Griffin.

"Last time at the Curragh was his first run of the season and it was just too soft for him.

"We are willing to travel to Goodwood, but we're just waiting to see how the ground is.

"If it is OK, we will go. He's in very good form. He has improved a lot since the Curragh."
