O'Brien doubting Thomas

Aidan O’Brien expressed concerns over the prospect of trying conditions for Dylan Thomas in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

The heavy downpours expected at Ascot are not likely to suit the uneasy market leader, second to Manduro in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes last time out.

O’Brien, who also saddles Scorpion in the King George, told the Racing Post: “Obviously we have to be worried about the possibility of testing ground for Dylan Thomas.

“It’s the intention to run both horses but everyone knows Dylan Thomas is much more effective on quick ground and that he isn’t the same horse on soft.

“Soft ground would have to be seen as a negative and we’ll just have to wait and see what the weather brings over the next few days.”
