Uttoxeter announce early check

Uttoxeter will stage a precautionary inspection at 7.30am on Thursday to assess prospects for racing in the afternoon.

Although the track is currently heavy, soft in places, heavy rain is forecast in the early hours of the morning.

Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen said: “We’ve called a precautionary inspection based on the forecast.

“Between 4am and 5am there could be anything in excess of 12 millimetres, which would give us cause for concern.

“That is at the higher end (of a rainfall prediction) and it is forecast to clear by 9am.

“If we get some – or even half – of that forecast rainfall, we should be fine.”
