Girl to step up

Northumberland Plate winner Juniper Girl will face a step up in class for her next outing.

Michael Bell’s four-year-old filly got up to beat Macorville in the final stride at Newcastle and give young jockey Luke Morris the biggest win of his career.

And Bell is now eyeing on two possible engagements at Glorious Goodwood, or even the newly sponsored Goffs/DBS Park Hill Stakes at the St Leger meeting.

“Juniper Girl will be entered twice at Goodwood,” said Bell. “She will have entries in the Lillie Langtry Fillies’ Stakes and the Goodwood Cup.

“If the ground suits, i.e. there is some cut, she may run in one, if not she will either go to Deauville or wait for the Park Hill Stakes,” he told At The Races.

The Group Two event at Doncaster has secured the backing of the newly-merged Goffs Doncaster Bloodstock Sales and will take place on September 13.
