York to inspect on Wednesday
Thursday’s meeting at York must pass a 12pm precautionary inspection on Wednesday.
The going on the Knavesmire is currently soft, heavy in places, but with a few remaining areas waterlogged.
Clerk of the course William Derby said: “It’s bright at the moment and the prospects are for a dry day today.
“But speaking to the Met Office, they have advised me there are showers around. We would really need to be missing those showers.”
The popular Yorkshire track also stages a valuable card on Saturday, featuring the Skybet York Stakes.
Derby added: “It’s too early to say in terms of Saturday’s meeting, but we would not want a whole heap of rain in the next few days.”
