Authorized team considers options

Authorized is not a definite runner in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on July 28.

Saleh Al Homeizi, joint-owner of the Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained Derby winner, expressed concerns the colt may not be fully wound-up for the Group One assignment following his exertions at Sandown.

Authorized finished second to Notnowcato in the Coral-Eclipse on Saturday but is still VC Bet’s 7-4 favourite to win the King George.

However, Al Homeizi told the Racing Post: “We’d definitely like a longer gap between the Eclipse and the King George.

“We’ll see how he comes out of Saturday’s race. If he is fine, maybe he’ll go to Ascot but if he needs more time, we will give him it and he won’t go – he’ll tell us.”
