Andy Turnell expects a bold show from Blue Bajan in the William Ewart Properties Gala Stakes at Sandown on Friday.

Andy Turnell expects a bold show from Blue Bajan in the William Ewart Properties Gala Stakes at Sandown on Friday.

The five-year-old bids for a first Listed success having competed in Group company on his last two starts.

Runner-up in the Cambridgeshire last autumn, Blue Bajan has finished a close-up second in Chester’s Huxley Stakes and fifth in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot.

“I’m very pleased with him. He’ll handle soft but I’d rather it was good ground,” said the Swindon trainer.

“In fact if it got very wet I might think twice, but the forecast is pretty good.

“He’s in good form and I’m hopeful he’ll run very well, but Topatoo looks the one to beat.”
