Authorized, George Washington dominate Eclipse entries

Authorized and George Washington both appear among the five-day confirmations for Saturday’s Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.

Peter Chapple-Hyam’s Vodafone Derby hero and Aidan O’Brien’s mercurial star will face a maximum of 11 rivals in the 10-furlong feature.

Of the 13 to have stood their ground, O’Brien is responsible for six.

With George Washington spearheading the challenge, the Ballydoyle brigade could be further strengthened by Dylan Thomas, Admiralofthfleet, Archipenko, Duke Of Marmalade and Yellowstone.

Michael Stoute’s Notnowcato could bid to go one place better than in 2006, while Mashaahed, Pressing and Clive Brittain’s Kandidate may also represent the older horses.

Derby fourth Lucarno is John Gosden’s sole entry, while the Mark Johnston-trained Champery was the only horse to be supplemented for the Group One showpiece.
